Caring for Dogs
Tips for looking after your Dog:
- When you are choosing a dog to get, make sure that you choose a breed that is suitable for you and your family. Take in to consideration the age and activity level of yourself and your family.
- Just like us, dogs like to have company. You should not leave your dog on their own for long periods of time.
- If you do have to leave your dog alone make sure they are safe and happy and they have something e.g toy, to occupy them.
- Your dog's digestive health is very important, make sure to choose a food that is suitable for them.
- Your dog's diet should be a fully balanced one. Most dry dog foods are complete and do not need any supplements.
- Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise, this is not only good for their health, it is often a nice way to bond with your dog.
- If you are ever in doubt about the health or well-being of your dog, make sure to consult your vet.
Tips For Caring For your New Puppy.
- Feed dry food as opposed to tinned or wet food as tinned foods tend to be over 75% moisture (i.e. water) and typically with 4% meat content.
- Ensure your puppy gets all necessary vaccinations.
- It is good to get your puppy used to travelling in the car at this early stage, try to make their first few trips positive and not frightening for them.
- After exercise place them in the back kitchen for maybe an hour so the puppy gets used to you leaving the house and will not suffer from anxiety, where they may bark and chew excessively.
- Keep treats to a minimum, using them for training so as not to overfeed or spoil them.
