Looking Good In Winter Months

Wintertime is usually associated with plenty of mud, looking for your horse in the dark after work and wondering where did that nice shiny coat of hair go? If your horse looks a little dull in the wintertime it can be really helpful to add a little oil to their diet. Pasture naturally contains around 8% oil; this oil is naturally higher in omega-3 than omega-6 fatty acids. When pasture is limited and the nutritional value drops, a horse on dried forages and grains will often end up with a diet higher in omega-6 fatty acids.

Busy Bank Holiday Weekend

For those of you that don’t know me, I have a guilty secret! I have a coloured cob! Yes, a potentially hairy, (truthfully it was hairy, very hairy, until Friday!!) coloured cob. Said coloured cob believes himself to be the actual centre of the universe and prefers to be fit only in winter. Hunting season was about to start and Cob was very actively complaining that he was unclipped, that he had merely one rug on and that he was generally in no condition to be seen in public.

Connolly’s RED MILLS export to over 43 countries worldwide and China is one of our most recent new export markets. So, as I am only recently returned from there, I thought I would share my trip with you.

I was in China as part of the technical support service that we provide to our customers across the globe. The hotel that I was staying in was directly opposite the Shanghai Race Club building.

Outer Mongolia is an actual place! And I was there

Connolly’s RED MILLS really is a global organisation. This becomes even more poignant when your mission is to travel to Outer Mongolia to give nutrition seminars to the trainers.

As you can imagine, my dear darling husband was highly amused by the idea of sending me off to Outer Mongolia. The amusement value was slightly overshadowed when he realised that the dishwasher fairy and the cooking fairy were joining me on my trip!

Connolly’s RED MILLS SuperLeague Championship 2013

Tattersalls hosted the Connolly's RED MILLS SuperLeague Championship 2013, on the 1st of September. To qualify for this Championship class riders had to place in at least 2 of the 7 SuperLeague classes that were held at different events throughout the year. Eleven riders entered on the day and it was a tough competition for all involved. The winning riders however were Michael Ryan on Ballylynch Wizard, Steven Smith on Youngstar's Cheetah and Fraser Duffy on Primus, all fantastic riders and well done to them all!

Barclays International Horse Trials at Blair Castle

The Barclays International Horse Trials at Blair Castle ran from the 22nd - 25th August, with a large number of National and International competitors making the journey to the beautiful estate in the Scottish Highlands.

Among these was Connolly’s RED MILLS rider, Matthew Wright, who had horses in the CCI 1*, CCI 2* and CIC 3*.
