Ambassadors Success in 2015 - Showjumping

30 December 2015

The past 12 months will be remembered as an incredible year for the team of RED MILLS Ambassadors, with superb results on the world stage.

As 2015 draws to a close, two of our ambassadors sit in the top six of the Longines World rankings, with Scott Brash at No. 1 and fellow RED MILLS Ambassador Bertram Allen sitting at No. 6.

Scott Brash

RED MILLS Ambassador Scott Brash

For Brash the year will be remembered for his incredible achievement of becoming the first rider in history to claim the Rolex Grand Slam of Jumping. He won all three of the sport's most prestigious events in a single year with Hello Sanctos, earning the sport's biggest individual prize of one million euro.

Brash also won two rounds of the Longines Global Champions Tour at Monaco and Cascais, finishing the LGCT season as runner-up.

Bertram Allen

RED MILLS Ambassador Bertram Allen competing with Romanov

Bertram Allen continued his incredible rise to fame in another outstanding 12 months. The Wexford rider began the season competing in his first ever World Cup final, grabbing a podium finish with Molly Malone V in Las Vegas. Allen added a string of top class Grand Prix wins to his collection and in August he became one of the youngest riders in history to lift the famous Aga Khan trophy. Allen played a key role as Ireland won their home leg of the Furusiyya Nations Cup series and also booked a place in the top division of world show jumping once again in 2016.

Shane and Trevor Breen

Both Shane Breen and Trevor Breen continued to perform with outstanding results during 2015. Older brother Shane made a number of Nations Cup appearances, while he also was named in the Irish squad for the Nations Cup final in Barcelona.

Meanwhile Trevor Breen had a year to remember, winning the world famous Hickstead Derby for the second year in a row. In further proof of the excellent results gained from feeding Connolly’s RED MILLS, Trevor Breen won the Derby with a different horse this time round. Having won in 2014 with Adventure De Kannan, he followed up with another victory of power and endurance aboard Loughnatousa WB.

Dermott Lennon

RED MILLS Ambassador Dermott Lennon

Another RED MILLS Ambassador, Dermott Lennon, once again had a phenomenal season. The former world champion was named overall champion of the inaugural Jumping In The City series with the Irish Sport Horse mare Loughview Lou-Lou. The pair crossed the Atlantic soon afterwards and finished as runners-up in the World Cup show in Toronto.

Edwina Tops-Alexander

Austrailia’s top-ranked rider – Edwina Tops-Alexander has been a member of the RED MILLS Ambassadors for a number of years and she continued to feature at shows around the globe during 2015. She came out on top in her home Grand Prix at Valkenswaard in The Netherlands, while she also scored podium finishes in competitions at London, Monaco, Paris and Antwerp.

RED MILLS At Rio 2016

As we look ahead to 2016, all eyes will be on the Olympic Games in Rio. If Ireland are successful in their appeal to CAS, it is likely that several RED MILLS Ambassadors will be part of Robert Splaine’s plans. Tops-Alexander and Brash would seem certain to form the backbone of both the Australian and Great Britain teams.

We congratulate all our ambassadors on their incredible achievements in 2015, as they travelled the globe proving quite literally why Connolly’s RED MILS is the Feed of Champions.

We wish them and all our customers the very best of luck again in 2016.
