RED MILLS Future Champion Unraced

Pat Buckley produced the first and second in the 10th running of the Connolly's RED MILLS Future Champion Unraced Stake at Enniscorthy. Droopys Nine stopped the clock in a fantastic 28.71 to beat his fast finishing kennel companion, Droopys Roddick by one length.

Watch the second round heats of the Connolly's RED MILLS Future Champion Unraced Stake. Trade Biscuit recorded the fastest time of the year to date, 28.74, Droopys Roddick 28.89, Street Lane 29.28 and Ballymac Galtee, one of only two bitches left in the competition at this stage won her quarter final in 29.37. Following the heats we spoke to Pat Buckley, John Tuohy, Tom Codd and Leonard O'Hanlon.

RED MILLS Future Champion Unraced Launch

Connolly's RED MILLS are sponsoring the 10th running of the "Future Champion Unraced Stake" at Enniscorthy, down through the years some fantastic greyhounds have won the competition.

Greyhound Of The Year, Ardkill Jamie, took the inaugural event back in 2005, and this years event gets underway at the Ross Road circuit on Monday, 5 October with the final down for the Sunday evening of the Halloween Bank Holiday on 25 October.

2015 BEAM Race Night

Join Maria Dagg for the 26th annual BEAM night from Kilkenny. Murt Leahy and Pat Carroll combined forces to land the RED MILLS Cup with Ballybough Mike to win in a fantastic 28.73.

To bring down the curtain on a brilliant night we had the usual Donkey Derby, this year the National Hunt jockeys had to contend with a mysterious guest in a white suit. Take a look to see what happened.

Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium hosts the annual BEAM Night on Sunday, 19 July. A great night's entertainment is promised, top class greyhound racing, as well as the Donkey Derby. Some of the finest National Hunt jockeys will be present, but this year they will have to contend with a man well versed in "horse power", and Maria Dagg caught up with this mystery rider ahead of his trek to Kilkenny.

RED MILLS and TSC Unraced Bitch Stake

David McGrath and Donal Murphy combined forces to land their second RED MILLS Unraced Bitch competition of the year. Badminton Rossa landed the Youghal in 29.08 on Friday night.

The winner is an Oct 2013 whelp by Taylors Sky out of that fantastic race bitch, Rossa Baby, who incidentally won the RED MILLS 600 at Enniscorthy in 2009 in a track record time of 32.25. In the summer of that year the daughter of Brett Lee set three track records at the Wexford circuit.

2015 Connolly's RED MILLS Juvenile Final

Join us at Kilkenny for the 2015 running of the Connolly's RED MILLS and TSC Champion Juvenile. Victory went to the Paul Hennessy trained Barefoot Artist in 29.20. Six times All-Ireland winning medalist, TJ Reid made the presentation and Maria Dagg got an insight into the Kilkenny set up when she spoke to the Ballyhale native.

2015 RED MILLS Champion Juvenile Round 1

Join Maria Dagg and John Geoghegan for the opening round of the RED MILLS and TSC Champion Juvenile 525 from Kilkenny. It's the fourth running of this prestigious event and as always we have a fantastic competition.

Skilful Champ set the competition alight with his 28.89 in the opening heat, Lordofthenine's long journey from Clare paid dividends with his 29.37 victory. Barefoot Artist made his exit out of the English Derby but made no mistake when stopping the clock in 29.05 in heat 3, and the final heat went to the fast starting Tucker Foley on his first look at the Kilkenny circuit.

We spoke to the winning connections, Perry Aylward, Frank Browne, Laura Hennessy, and Liam Kirby following their wins.

26th Connolly's RED MILLS Champion Unraced Stake - R1

The Connolly's RED MILLS Champion Unraced Stake at Kilkenny is one of the highlights on the Irish Greyhound racing calender. Down through the years it has been the kinder-garden for Derby and Classic winners. Top class greyhounds have graduated from this event to compete at the highest level both in Ireland and the UK.

The 26th running of this prestigious event looks set to continue in this vein. Tarsna Rory recorded the fastest heat of the opening round and Maria Dagg spoke to owner/ breeder/ trainer, Geoff Parnaby. Flawless Spirit stopped the clock in a fast 29.11. We spoke to John Kennedy and he gave us some background on the early paced son of Coolavanny Bert.

Gerry Holihan had his first runner in the Champion Unraced, Cu Eile, a half brother to a Derby finalist, impressed with his 29.50 effort in atrocious conditions. We also spoke to Michael Bergin, Perry Aylward, Stephen Martin, Peter Comerford, and Brendan O'Shea following their victories in the heats.

2015 - RED MILLS & NTSC Unraced Bitch - Round Two

Droopys Streak produced a sensational 28.28, only five spots off the track record, in the second round of the Connolly's RED MILLS & Newbridge Track Supporters Club Open Bitch Unraced, the well bred Badminton Maid opened the competition in emphatic fashion with her 28.82 victory, Liam Dowling had a one-two in the second heat with Ballymac Shirley and Paradise Simona, 28.94, and Eugene Price's Pennys Glory came from behind to collect in 28.97. 2015 Newbridge Unraced Bitch Stake - Round One

The 2015 renewal of the Connolly's RED MILLS & Newbridge Track Supporters Club Open Bitch Unraced got underway last Friday night; Maria Dagg caught up with the winning connections. Fastest in the opening round was the Frazer Black trained Droopys Streak in 28.71, Robert Gleeson's Droopys Sambuca 28.96, Enda Losty's Silly Symphony was only a spot slower in 28.97, Brian Fennelly's Cashmerfinn made every post a winning one in 29.18, Fandango, a comrade of last year's runner up, trained by Paul Kiely stopped the clock in 29.26 and the final heat went to last year's winning connections, Kieran Ryan and John Linehan, with Droopys Lahinch in 29.36.

Watch the Graham Holland, Ballydoyle Honey, claim the final of the 2015 running of the Connolly's RED MILLS/ Track Supporters Club Unraced Stake from Clonmel. Pat Dalton's, Volcano, breaks her own track record over the 790 yards. On an action packed card Magical Harry won the Open 525 in 28.55, and the other four finals on the card went the way of Willmount Jewell 28.81, Leahs Warrior 29.20, Roo Ace 30.03 (550), and Cromac Belle 28.71.

The first semi-final sees a one- two for Graham Holland with Ballydoyle Honey impressing in 28.54, in the second semi Dolores Ruth's Razldazl Oisin showed fantastic early to collect in 28.73, and we talk to the winning connections about next weeks final. But we firstly look at the semi-finals of the Greyhound & Pet World Open 790, where Pat Dalton's brilliant bitch, Volcano, lowered the Track Record with her 43.83 spin, and Ballymac Bonnie took the second semi-final.

RED MILLS/Clonmel TSC Open Unraced Stake Round Two

Join Maria Dagg and John Geoghegan for all of the action and reaction to the second round of the Connolly's RED MILLS & Clonmel Track Supporters Open Unraced Stake. The Dolores Ruth trained Razldazl Oisin proved fastest of the quarter finalists, 29.05, Michael Dalton's, Express Empire, chased him home last week, he turned in a fine staying performance to collect in 29.12 from Riverside Gold, Graham Holland got his two dogs through to next weeks semi-finals when the young bitch, Ballydoyle Honey, a July '13 whelp won in 29.16, Patrick Guilfoyle's, Highview Craft, won a troublesome heat in 29.59, the syndicate owned winner is partially owned by the Clare senior hurling manager, Davy Fitzgerald.

The RED MILLS/T.S.C. Open Unraced Stake Round One

Two of the last three Irish Derby winners began their careers in this Unraced Stake at Clonmel, have we seen another one this year, possibly, take a look and make up your own mind. Diego Flight produced the fastest clock in the final heat in 29.01, conditions were far from ideal on a rain sodden track in blustery conditions. Following each of the heats Maria Dagg caught up with the winning connections, Kiernan Ryan, Liam Marks, John Keegan, Sean Bourke, Denis Murphy, Connor Scahill, and Paul Ryan; their views on their charges make for some interesting listening.
