BEAM Benefit Night in Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium

21 July 2015

The Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium hosted the annual BEAM Benefit Night on Sunday, 19 July. The event has been one of the highlights of the racing calendar for many years and as always drew a huge crowd for this very worthy cause.

BEAM are a fantastic charity, working with people with special needs at their centre in Bagenalstown and this night is their primary annual fundraiser. This is the 26th year that Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium has hosted the event and over the years they have raised in the region of €500,000 for the charity.

Connolly's RED MILLS are proud to support the BEAM Benefit Night with the ever popular RED MILLS Cup Open 525. This years winner, Ballybough Mike, was never in doubt after the first bend, winning in a time of 28.73. Kilkenny based owner, Pat Carroll, was a very popular winner with the crowd and it notches another success on the belt of trainer Murt Leahy.

All in all the night was very entertaining, but the best was yet to come as the Donkey Derby was the last to run on the night. Special guest, The Stig, took on five other jockeys including members of the Mullins family and as you can image chaos ensued. Take a look at the video below to get all the action from the night.
